Agnès b. is delighted to unveil the grand opening of the exhibition “5 days in Moscow in 1987” at agnès b. RUE DE MARSEILLE concept store in Hong Kong starting from today. You’ll be invited to glimpse and enjoy a collection of more than 100 photographs taken by agnès b. during her stay in Moscow, the capital of the former Soviet Union in 1987. A memorandum written by Agnès b. and some collectible items that captured her exotic yet meaningful experience in Moscow will also be exhibited. In 1987, accompanied by the journalist and writer from the magazine ELLE, Philippe Trétiack, Agnès b. went to Moscow for 5 days and found herself cast into the unknown: silent crowds, immense spaces… far away from the Western landmarks she was familiar with. Agnès b. was on a mission to discover new fashion trends, new styles and new tastes, those of a world that was totally foreign and people whose daily lives were difficult. She observed and took notes everywhere she went, of people dressed in clothes without « style » and in gloomy colours. She met great couturiers whose traditions were far removed from her own. But above all, she took pictures: children clutching their parents, merchants with incredible costumes… And of many details that surprised her and gave her great pleasure in discovering. The photos are composed of monochrome and colour. This exhibition was shown at the agnès b. Marseille store and the Arles International Photo Festival in France, followed by Tokyo in January this year, and now debuts in Hong Kong for 2 months.
