This Summer, anticipation among tennis enthusiasts and sports fanatics flares up as Italian high fashion sportswear icon FILA and renowned American sports brand Wilson join hands in a two-strong collaboration. Both FILA and Wilson boast a prominent presence in the modern tennis scene. In 1973, the F-Box logo brought the first splash of colour to the all-white tennis tournament attire, a historic moment when FILA established itself in the world map of tennis sport. The brand went on to become the official partner of the US Open for 22 consecutive years from 1982 onwards. Meanwhile, Wilson rose to international fame with the first alloy racket and composite racket, made possible only by consistent innovation in materials. Over the years, amicable competition has spurred both brands to strike sparks off each other as they strived to make waves in the tennis world. The collaboration tapped tennis player Kiki Bertens as the face of the crossover collection. The 28-year-old rising star won a total of 10 WTA titles with current ranking at seventh. A nod to the trending retro style, FILA x Wilson collection presents a coveted ensemble of on-court and off-court apparel, with a sophisticated interplay of classic elements such as the signature F logo and W logo, crispy lines and colour-blocking. Functionality and technical materials play a key role to ensure high performance on court. A perfect union of FILA’s sporty-chic codes and Wilson’s professional savoir-faire, the collection borrows the signature palette and silhouette of Wilson rackets, with the use of the light and breathable triacetate from Japan for excellent practicality. Comfort and style blend well in the versatile line of off-court items perfect for all occasions. The signature logos of the brands are reimagined with stylish logo play and monogram, while athleisure chic dazzles with the brands’ classic red and white palettes. Alongside sportswear items, FILA and Wilson also remake the much-coveted FILA ADE tennis shoes for the crossover. Tennis culture stands out with the collage of mesh and leather inspired by the tennis net. A combination of retro and modern vibes in totality, the shoes feature the brands’ red and white DNA palettes and the iconic eagle claw, while the light and robust Goodyear sole offers a refined final touch.
