THE FOREST, adhering to the New World Development Co.’s business philosophy of “Creating Shared Value” as well as being committed to promote the development of local sports, is hosting “ANY GROUND IS YOUR PLAYGROUND” summer campaign from June 29th to September 13th, injecting novel sporting and shopping elements to create a unique shopping experience. THE FOREST continues to support curating “OUR WORK FROM HOME”photo exhibition: a collaboration with renowned local sports photographer and Canon Pro Ambassador Brian Ching, benefiting local sports charity InspiringHK. The exhibition is a documentation of local elite athletes working from home during the pandemic, encouraging the public to adopt the athletic spirit and hold an optimistic attitude towards the future. Guests including nine local elite athletes of different categories (Gymnast Stone Shek, Paralympian Fencer Alison Yu, Badminton Player Ying Suet Tse, Track and Field Athlete Theophilus Chan, Rugby Player Salmon Yiu, Swimmer Stephanie Au, Rowing Athlete Carmen Lee, Rope Skipping Athlete Timothy Ho, Para-badminton Player Daniel Chan) will be participating in the kick-off ceremony, sharing their moments of shooting at their homes, inspiring the public to be creative while facing unprecedented challenges. The event had a simple yet grand kick off ceremony hosted by THE FOREST representative, Assistant General Manager –Shared Value, New World Development, Garrick Lau, Chief Executive of InspiringHK Sports Foundation Judy Kong and the renowned local photographer of the “OUR WORK FROM HOME” Hong Kong Athlete Photo Exhibition, Brian Ching. While sharing his creative concept and inspiration, Brian Ching stated that “the year of 2020 was originally a significant year for sports. Local athletes have been preparing for various tournaments while the sudden outbreak of the pandemic led to the one-year postpone of the Olympics and the Paralympics, as well as the temporary close down of training facilities. Despite the situation, local athletes did not cease to train hard by “working from home”daily in order to progress towards their goals. The photo exhibition aims to encourage the public to adopt the athlete spirit and find their new routines in life to advance towards their goals with an optimistic attitude.” Nine local elite athletes participated in the kick-off ceremony; Brian Ching gifted each athlete a framed photo as a souvenir. Brian shares his thoughts in the project “I would like to sincerely thank THE FOREST for organizing and making this sports photo exhibition happen, allowing the public to get to know a more down to earth side of our Hong Kong athletes.” Garrick Lau, Assistant General Manager - Shared Value, New World Development, explained how THE FOREST implements “Creating Shared Value” for the community, “New World Development has always been promoting the development of local sports, while creating shared value. With Brian’s work, we were able to portray how nine elite local athletes have been “working from home”, showcasing their persistence and encouraging the public to adopt the athletic spirit and engage in a healthy lifestyle”. Garrick also stated that “THE FOREST will be partnering with multiple local sports organizations to present to the public various unique sporting experiences, aiming to stimulate the population in the Sneaker Street community and encourage consumption, creating a win-win situation.” The “OUR WORK FROM HOME” Hong Kong Athlete Photo Exhibition is located at THE FOREST 1/F Atrium. It was designed to resemble the structure of a home to align with the “WORK FROM HOME” exhibition theme. All photos are exhibited on one side of the wall in a conventional way, and the other side is set up with a stop-motion treatment, portraying vivid images of each athlete’s home training, showcasing their persistent spirit. The “home” structured exhibition site also presents multiple photos on its exterior, with explanatory wordings depicting how athletes utilized their creativity under limitations at home to maintain their physical fitness and prepare for future competitions.
